William De Caeny, 83 of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was born Friday, June 6, 1924 in Jackson County, Missouri, the son of Victor and Erma (Van De Berche) De Caeny. He departed this life Thursday, November 8, 2007 at the Pleasant Hill Health & Rehabilitation Center.
On September 27, 1941, William was united in marriage to Arlene L. Kier in Olathe, Kansas.
William was a Car Inspector for the Missouri-Pacific Rail Road for over 38years. He was a member of St. Bridget Catholic Church, Pleasant Hill where he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus #13113 Honor Guard.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son William Victor De Caeny in February 2003, and 2 brothers John De Caeny and Albert De Caeny.
He is survived by his wife Arlene of Pleasant Hill; his daughter Barbara Leach and her husband Gene of Baldwin, Kansas; 2 Grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild; several nieces and nephews other relatives and many friends.
A funeral mass was held Tuesday November 13, 2007, at St. Bridget Catholic Church, Pleasant Hill. Monsignor's Bradley Offutt, Robert Murphy and Reverend Joseph Cisetti officiated. Burial was in Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, Kansas. Casket bearers were Bob Hull, Cody Leach, Gene Leach, Mark Leach, Bill Moss, and Donnie Thomas. Members of VFW Post #3118 presented the flag at the graveside.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Bridget Catholic Church Building Fund and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
