Waunetta Smith

Waunetta M. Smith, 92, of Boonville, Missouri, formerly of Pleasant Hill, was born Monday, December 17, 1916 in Pleasant Hill, the daughter of James C. and Alma D. (Small) Parris. She departed this life at 2:20 p.m. on Sunday, October 18, 2009 at the Hartman Village Assisted Living Center in Boonville.

On November 15, 1937, Waunetta was united in marriage LeRoy Smith in Yuma, Arizona. He preceded her in death on May 11, 1996.

Waunetta managed a photograph studio while living in the El Cajon, California and a jewelry store in Brawley, California. The major undertaking in her life was the care giving of her mother, father and her husband. She was a member of the Hickory Grove Baptist Church.

Besides her parents and her husband she was preceded in death by two sisters Eva D. Kinley and Noma O. Hawkins.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Sheryl and Charles McGruder of Franklin, Missouri; one grandson and granddaughter-in-law Matthew and Diedra McGruder of Franklin; three great-grandsons Cooper, Alexander, and Mason; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Thursday, October 22, 2009, at the funeral home. Reverend Brent Dickerson officiated. Interment was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
