Wanda Pearle Cassidy, 79, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, formerly of Lone Jack, was born Wednesday, November 6, 1929 on the family farm near Lone Jack, Missouri, the daughter of Elmer A. and Pearl I. (Fann) Faulkenberry. She departed this life at 9:27 a.m. Sunday, June 21, 2009 at the Pleasant Hill Health & Rehabilitation Center.
Wanda was a 1947 graduate of Lone Jack High School and has lived in the surrounding townships all of her life. On May 22, 1949, she was united in marriage to Robert L. Cassidy in Lone Jack, Missouri. He preceded her in death on April 24, 2004.
Wanda was a homemaker and worked side by side with her husband in various occupations throughout their marriage. She also worked at the Lone Jack High School library as a volunteer, which she enjoyed very much, the Harrisonville grade school cafeteria and for Commercial Union Insurance. She attended both the Christian and Baptist churches in Lone Jack. She was a member of the Evergreens Senior Citizens group.
She always loved visiting with all the grandchildren and great grand children, of whom she was so proud of. Gardening was a hobby that she enjoyed and was thrilled to see it flourish.
Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son James R. Cassidy and a granddaughter Sabrina L. Cassidy.
She is survived by three daughters, Debbie Whitford and husband John of Lee's Summit, Brenda Rhea-Lasne and husband Louie of the home, Robin Cassidy of Dallas, Texas; one son, Bill Cassidy and wife Laura of Pleasant Hill; one brother Gene Faulkenberry and wife Mary of Lone Jack; her twin sister Wilma Mallicoat and husband Boots of Lee's Summit; seven grandchildren, Andy Fields, Carrie Lesan and husband Greg, Beth Barber and husband Jason, Jacob Cassidy, Joe Cassidy, James Cassidy, Anthony Cassidy; nine great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at the Stanley-Dickey Funeral Home. Dr. Al West officiated. Interment was in the Lone Jack Cemetery. Casket bearers were Jason Barber, Jacob Cassidy, James Cassidy, Joe Cassidy, Andy Fields, Louis Lasne, Greg Lesan, and John Whitford.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Pleasant Hill Health & Rehabilitation Center or Grace Hospice and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
