Wadine Franklin

Wadine M. Franklin, 91, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was born Sunday, September 29, 1918 in Climax Springs, Missouri, the daughter of Emil A. and Berniece (Pennell) Arnhold. She departed this life at 8:35 p.m. on Monday, October 5, 2009 at the John Knox Village Memorial Care Center in Lee's Summit.

On December 22, 1940, Wadine was united in marriage to Ivan L. (Pete) Franklin in Camdenton, Missouri. He preceded her in death on December 14, 1997.

Wadine received a degree in teaching from the Missouri State University in Springfield later teaching at the Ragg School house in southern Missouri. Following her marriage to Ivan in 1940 they owned and operated Franklin's 66 service station in Brookside while running a farm near Pleasant Hill. She was a devout Christian and a very active member in her church.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, son Jimmie Lee Franklin and one sister Martha Kelly.

She is survived by her daughter LeAnn and Cal Cundiff of Pleasant Hill; three grandchildren Chad and Karen Cundiff of Phoenix, Arizona, Tamara Cundiff of Lee's Summit, and Danette Seffens of, Olathe, Kansas; seven great-grandchildren Madison and Taylor Cundiff, Katarina and Caleb Parrish, Benjamin, Timothy and Jeremy Seffens; two sisters Myrene and Gerald Moulder of Roach, Missouri and Phyllis and Cecil Saulsbury of Kansas City, Missouri; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.

Per Wadine's request a private graveside service was held at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the City Union Mission or a charity of the donor's choice and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
