Veronica Joan “Ronnie” Shanley, age 80, of Warrensburg, Missouri, formerly of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was born February 19, 1945, in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Albert and Ann (Hunter) Myers. She passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at the Ridgecrest Nursing Center in Warrensburg.
Ronnie was a 1963 Kansas City, Northeast High School graduate.
On May 11, 1963, she was united in marriage to Roger E. Shanley in Kansas City, Missouri. To this union three children, Mark, Tina, and Mike were born. Roger and Ronnie started their new life on the dairy farm in Wisconsin with some crazy stories of this city girl learning farming life from Roger driving tractors and mishaps. They in later years moved to Kansas City where she shared her love of people from working at nursing homes to managing a restaurant and waitressing with her proud moments of all her Shoney’s awards. She loved in later years eating there and telling the stories of all her awards to the employees working. Once the grandkids arrived, she was the proud babysitter taking them to all the garage sales and sending home all the treasures they found together. She also loved to sew and was a gifted seamstress.
She never knew a stranger. If you met her once, you were her best friend and would be introduced as such saying they love me. She would grab her family to be introduced to all citing how proud she was of you. She is described by her kids/grandkids as pure unconditional love, people collector, and genuinely proud of you and everything you did or made. She believed God was watching over her and hers with the sun shining on all of us.
May we all find the pure love to give to others stranger or family.
Ronnie is survived by her husband Roger Shanley; three children, Mark Shanley and wife Sheila; Tina Markley and husband Ron; Mike Shanley and wife Candy; nineteen grandchildren; twenty four great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and five sisters, Alberta, Emma, Susie, Mary, and Pat.
