Thomas Hedger “Tommy” Curtis, Jr., 50, of Blue Springs, Missouri, was born, May 31, 1971, in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Thomas, Sr. and Sandra (Durrill) Curtis. He departed this life, Friday, January 7, 2022, at the St. Mary’s Hospital in Blue Springs.
Tommy was a 1989 Grandview High School graduate.
On July 6, 2013, he was united in marriage to Lacey Michelle Kagarice in Pleasant Hill.
He was a long-time horse trainer in the Kansas City area. Later working as a custodian for the Lee’s Summit School district. He enjoyed playing golf, watching the Chiefs and Royals, listening to music, going to horseshows, and good barbecue. Most all he was a dedicated husband.
Tommy was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife Lacey of the Blue Springs; his daughter, Lora Curtis of Excelsior Springs; his sister and brother-in-law, Melissa and Alan Bush of Excelsior Springs; his nephew, Drake Bush of Maryville; other relatives and friends.
Cremation has been accorded.
A celebration of Tommy’s was held Saturday, January 22, 2022, at the funeral home. Reverend D. Kent Deubner officiated.
Visitation was held one hour prior to the the service at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Northland Therapeutic Riding Center and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
