Terry Richard Roberts, 68, of Pleasant Hill, was born February 1, 1957, in Salem, Arkansas, the son of Hershel H. and Lillie M. (Haynes) Roberts. He departed this life Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at the Lee’s Summit Medical Center with his son Sam by his side.
Terry was a 1975 Pleasant Hill High School graduate. Later graduating from the Kansas City Police Academy.
On July 6, 1976, he was united in marriage to Mary E. Raffurty in Pleasant Hill and to this union one son, Samuel L. Roberts, was born.
Terry was first employed in concrete construction for the Dusselier Bros. Concrete in Grandview. In 1975 he became a full-time police officer. He worked for the Pleasant Hill Police Dept. (1975-1977), Cass County Sheriffs Dept. (1980), Jackson County Sheriff’s Dept., Greenwood Police Dept., the Lake Winnebago Police Dept., Lake Lotawana Police Dept., and the Grain Valley, Police Dept. Following his time as an officer he returned to concrete construction working for LaFarge Concrete, Oak Grove; Dupris Concrete, Greenwood; he finished his career as a driver for Carter Energy and Fleming Babcock, Inc. He was an avid train enthusiast and was an active member of the Midland Railways of Baldwin City, Kansas. He enjoyed collecting train memorabilia and photography.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents Hershel and Lillie Mae Roberts; one brother, Connie Roberts; one nephew, Darrell Noble; and one niece, Kim Noble.
He is survived by his wife Mary of Pleasant Hill; his son, Sam Roberts of Holton, Kansas; one sister Caroline Lefler of East Lynne, Missouri; his grand-dog, Parker Ray; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, February 24, 2025, at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at the funeral home. Reverend James Stanfield-Myers will officiate. Cremation will be accorded following services. Inurnment will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery at a later date. Honorary bearers are Rodney Matlock, Clinton Raffurty, Christine Hays, Erik Hays, Jaxon Sneed, and Andrew Osborne.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Pleasant Hill Animal Shelter and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
