Susan J. Lawrence

Susan Juliette Lawrence, 81, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was born February 28, 1942, in Maui, Hawaii, the daughter of John N. and Lillian N. (Tavares) Santos. She departed this life Sunday, December 3, 2023, at her home surrounded with love and family.

Susan was a 1960 graduate of Maui High School located in Kahului, Hawaii.

On February 24, 1984, she was united in marriage to Allen D. Lawrence in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.  He preceded her in death on October 4, 2020.

Susan was employed at R.B. Rice in Lee’s Summit where she was a member of the Meat Cutters Union Local #575.  She had also worked at Walmart in Harrisonville, Stringers, and James A. Reed, both in Lee’s Summit.  She enjoyed reading books, watching old westerns and cooking shows, watching sports - especially football and basketball, gardening, flowers - especially orchids, raising monarch butterflies, and being outside in nature.

Susan was also preceded in death by her parents; her son, John Hall; five siblings, Frank Santos, Grosvenor Tavaras, Jerry Santos, John Santos, and Juanita Santos.

She is survived by her daughter, Vickie Hall (and Dave Gerken) of Pleasant Hill; stepchildren, Misty (and Dave) Emerson of Kansas, April (and Eddie) Nelson of Warrensburg, Quentin (and Shanda) Lawrence of Pleasant Hill; two sisters, Sylvia Bowen of Great Falls, Montana, and Judy Andrade of Oahu, Hawaii; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; other relatives and friends.

Cremation has been accorded.  Private family services will be held in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery at a later date.
