Shirley Faye (Pinley) Johnson, 76, of England, Arkansas, was born January 15, 1935, in Colfax, Arkansas, the daughter of Omer and Ethel (Griffith) Pinley. She departed this life on Monday, October 31, 2011 at the Springhill Baptist Hospital in North Little Rock, Arkansas.
Shirley grew up in Colfax and by the age of fourteen had lost both of her parents. She, along with her siblings, moved in with her oldest brother Jay's family in Mansfield, Missouri where she met her future husband Joe at school. Their family moved to Chicago Heights, Illinois in 1951 and upon graduation from Bloom High School, she began a long career with Illinois Bell Telephone as an operator and supervisor. She married Joe on July 21st, 1956. When she and her husband and young family later moved out of state, she began taking care of children in her home. For many years, she was a caregiver for countless children and touched their lives with her loving, caring attitude. The chance to stay at home and raise her own children while helping others was her vocation. Many years later she began working at Wal-Mart and continued that work until the time of her death. She loved being with people, making many friends and enjoyed the time she spent with them, always helping others when she had the opportunity. While facing many medical challenges the past few years, she always had a smile on her face.
She was a faithful member of the Church of Christ for fifty-five years.
All who knew her knew of her love for her family. She was a wonderful Christian role model who always put others first. She lived by the verse of "faith, hope and love" and those who knew her can honor her by living it as an example.
Preceding her in death are brothers: Jay, Don and Fred Pinley and sister: Juanita (Pinley) Kiel. She has two sisters-in-law that are living. They are Nathalee Scheiwe of Sierra Vista, Arizona and Mary Pinley of Phoenix, Arizona. Parents.
