Roena White

Mrs. Roena Mae White, of Lee's Summit, Missouri, was born March 25, 1932 in Cass County, Missouri, the Daughter of the late Gibraltar and Viola Mae (Hearn) Hammond. She departed this life Saturday, August 1, 2009 at the Specialty Hospital of Mid-America, Overland Park at the age of 77 years, 4 months and 6 days.

On April 16, 1950, Roena was united in marriage to Robert Lee White in Kansas City, Missouri.

Roena was a homemaker. She was a 1949 graduate of the Pleasant Hill, Missouri High School. Roena was a member of the Lee's Summit United Methodist Church. She loved art, country music, sewing, crocheting, cross-stitching and making necklaces out of beads. In her earlier years, she enjoyed square-dancing with her husband Bob. She had lived on a farm in the Pleasant Hill area before moving to Lee's Summit.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Jo Ann Roe.

She is survived by her husband, Bob White of the home; a son, Rick White and wife Denise, Lee's Summit, Missouri; two daughters, Rhonda Aeby and husband Tom, Midwest City, Oklahoma, Becky Ortbals and husband Ken, Lee's Summit, Missouri; four grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; two brothers, Eugene Hammond, Olathe, Kansas, Lee Hammond, Lee's Summit, Missouri; three sisters, Nadine Kirschbaum, Libby, Montana, Geneva Dea Hall, Blue Springs, Missouri, Donna Lou Wagner, Nevada, Missouri; other relatives and many friends.

A Celebration of Life Service was held Thursday, August 6, 2009 at the Lee's Summit United Methodist Church in Lee's Summit, Missouri.
