Robert Lee Thornhill, Sr., Blue Springs, Missouri, was born Wednesday, June 20, 1917 in Englewood, Missouri. He was the son of Byron E. and Effie Fern Thornhill of Archie, Missouri. He departed this life Tuesday, January 16, 2007 at Raymore Bristol Manor at the age of 89 1/2 years.

On October 8, 1939, Robert was united in marriage to his first wife Virginia Lenora Rittermeyer, she passed away on August 3, 1981. He married Marjorie Donovan on June 19, 1972, she passed away March 13, 2005.

Robert was a member of the Amalgamated Meat Cutters Local Union No. 576, working for Nyman's and Scavuzzo's Supermarkets in Harrisonville and Bob Lemon's United Super in Blue Springs and North Kansas City, retiring in the early 1980's. He was an active member of Stanley-Pack American Legion Post #499, Blue Springs, and part of the Forty & Eight Club of the post. He had recently received his 50-year pin from the American Legion.

Besides his parents and wives he is preceded in death by a twin brother, Richard Van Thornhill, Sr.

He is survived by his son Robert Lee Thornhill, Jr. and his wife, Peg, Osceola, Missouri; his daughter, Linda K. Ruth and her husband Lance, Greenwood, Missouri; 4 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Funeral services were held Saturday, January 20, 2007,at the Stanley-Dickey Funeral Home, Pleasant Hill. Burial was in the Blue Springs Cemetery, Blue Springs, Missouri, where military services were provided by Stanley-Pack American Legion Post #499 of Blue Springs.
