Richard R. McDonald

Richard Ralph “Rich” McDonald, 70, of Overland Park, Kansas, formerly of Nashville, Tennessee, was born November 13, 1952.  He departed this life Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at the Village Shalom Care Center in Overland Park.  

Rich was born in Kansas City, Missouri and was raised in Pleasant Hill, Missouri.  He graduated from Pleasant Hill High School in 1971.  He then earned an undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University and did post graduate work at the University of Hawaii.  

Upon returning from Hawaii, he began a long career at his alma mater, Vanderbilt University, until his retirement as Assistant Director of Admissions in 2011.  He was of the Methodist Faith.

Rich was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph C. and Marjorie L. (Norman) McDonald.

He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, James and Fran McDonald formerly of Olathe, Kansas, now of Oxnard, California; one nephew, Kevin McDonald of Troy, Illinois; one niece Sarah (and Chris) Wilson of Moorpark, California; great nieces and nephews, Corey McDonald, Kelen McDonald, Ella McDonald, Hailey Wilson, and Blake Wilson.

Private burial was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Pleasant Hill, Missouri.
