Ralph C. McDonald, 90, Lenexa KS, formerly of Pleasant Hill, MO, passed away Friday, January 12th, 2007, in Lenexa, KS.
Mr. McDonald was born June 16, 1916, in Windsor, MO, to Jesse & Pearl McDonald. On April 19, 1941, he was united in marriage to Marjorie L. Norman of Holden, MO. She preceded him in death in September 2003.
He lived most of his life in Pleasant Hill. He served in the United States Navy during World War II as an underwater welder on a Navy minesweeper in the Pacific.
Ralph worked for several car dealerships in the Kansas City area including Hall-Ware, Con Frazier Buick, Greenlease Cadillac, and Haines and Hodges Buick. During the 1960's and 1970's he and his wife owned McDonald's Body Shop, Inc. in Independence, MO. The business still carries the McDonald name.
He is survived by two sons, Jim McDonald and his wife Fran of Lenexa and Richard McDonald of Nashville, TN; grandson, Kevin McDonald and his wife Lisa; granddaughter, Sarah Wilson and her husband Chris; and one sister, Shirley Neely, Pleasant Hill, MO.
Funeral services were held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 16, 2007 at the Stanley-Dickey Funeral Home. Pastor Carl Knapp officiated. Burial was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Pall bearers were Dan Cunningham, Joe Hamilton, Bill Hill, Ed Hopkins, Kevin McDonald, and Junior Ross.
