Rachel Carroll

Rachel E. Carroll, 109, Pleasant Hill, Missouri was born Friday, February 4, 1898 in Bland, Missouri, the daughter of Francis M. and Martha (Crider) Smith. She departed this life Tuesday, April 17, 2007 at the Pleasant Hill Health & Rehabilitation Center.

On March 13, 1917, Rachel was united in marriage to Joseph M. Carroll in Bland, Missouri. They moved to Pleasant Hill in 1925.

Rachel was a homemaker. She loved gardening and canning the produce of everything she grew. She enjoyed fishing and working with all of her flowers. She was always there for others.

She has been a member of the Pleasant Hill First Baptist Church since 1925, where she had been a Sunday School Teacher. She had also worked there as a custodian for many years.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, 2 sons Forrest and Ervin Carroll, one sister Nancy Bradley and one brother Charles Smith.

She is survived by 10 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, April 21, 2007 at the Stanley-Dickey Funeral Home, Pleasant Hill. Mr. Tim Cotton officiated. Burial was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Casket bearers were Mark Gray, Larry Foote, Richard Foote, Russell King, Gib Sudduth, and Don Taylor.
