Opal L. Roberts, 79, of Parma, Missouri, formerly of Harrisonville was born Monday, May 9, 1927 in Gibson, Tennessee, the daughter of John F. and James Edna (Harris) Freeman. She departed this life Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at the Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.
In 1949 Opal was first united in marriage to Fred S. Burns. She married her second husband Chester Roberts in 1972 they both preceded her in death.
Opal was a cook at several Harrisonville nursing homes, before moving to Parma in 1989. Her greatest quality was the love for her family. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and fishing. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 sons Donald and Tommy Burns, 5 brothers and 1 sister.
She is survived by 3 sons, Johnny C. Burns and wife Donna, of Peculiar, Missouri Billy E. Burns, of Pleasant Hill, and David T. Burns and companion Nancy of Houston, TX; 3 daughters Edna Eaton and husband Wayne, of Morehouse, Missouri, Phyllis Burns, of Parma, and Millie Cullum and husband Mike, of Parma; 3 brothers Eldon Freeman and Tommy Freeman of Tennessee and Henry Freeman, of Sikeston, Missouri; 3 sisters Ader Duck and Mary Ruth Duck both of Tennessee and Jodi Mathis of Parma; 19 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
Graveside services and interment was held Saturday, May 12, 2007 at Strasburg Cemetery, Strasburg, Missouri. Reverend Dean Pruitt officiated.
