Mildred Irene Spainhour, Lee's Summit, Missouri, was born December 9, 1918 in Owensville, Missouri, the daughter of Ira Burton and Mary Ellen (Carroll) Cooper. She departed this life January 25, 2007 at John Knox Village Care Center, Lee's Summit, at the age of 88 years, 1 month and 6 days.
On June 5, 1948, Irene was united in marriage to Raymond William Spainhour in Pleasant Hill, Missouri.
Irene was a long time member of the Lone Jack Community. She was a member of the Lone Jack Baptist Church, the 1918 Birthday Club, and the Lone Jack Civic Club. She was a volunteer with the Civil War Museum in Lone Jack. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Carol and Charlie Barnes, Kansas City, Missouri; 2 Grandson's Mark Moyer, Kansas City, Missouri, and James & wife Nicole, St. Louis, Missouri; 1 Great Grandchild, Kellen Moyer, St. Louis; 1 brother & sister-in-law, James and Cindy Cooper, Lee's Summit; 1 sister & brother-in-law Lois and Bill Constable, Lee's Summit; 2 sisters-in-law Betty L. Cooper and Betty J. Cooper, both of Lee's Summit; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held, Monday January 29, 2007, at the Lone Jack Baptist Church. Pastor Jerry Tharp officiated. Burial was in the Lone Jack Cemetery. Casket bearers were Larry Foote, James Moyer, Jay Moyer, Keith Moyer, Mark Moyer, and Matthew Moyer. Memorial Contributions are suggested to the Lone Jack Baptist Church.
