Michelle L. Wilson

Michelle Lynn Wilson, 55, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was born Sunday, September 7, 1969, in Independence. She departed this life Monday, November 25, 2024, at the Kansas University Medical Center.

Michelle was a 1987 William Chrisman High School graduate. She earned her bachelor’s degree in accounting from William Jewell College graduating in 1991. She pledged to join the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority and became a member in 1988.

On September 10, 2019, she was united in marriage to Christopher Dale Wilson in Oahu, Hawaii. 

Michelle started her career at the Charles F. Murry Mortgage Company, later working for Folgers, both in Kansas City. She was currently employed as the Controller I, Finance Manager for Tyson in Kansas City, Kansas. In the entirety of her working career, she was a workaholic giving 100% in all aspects of her job. She loved the outdoors, especially going to the lake, boating, and fishing; she also liked hunting and shooting. She enjoyed working in her yard; especially time spent on her zero-turn mower manicuring her yard. She was a member of the “Fab 4” girls’ group, long-time friends who have always been there for one another. When time allowed, she also enjoyed shopping and traveling.

Michelle is survived by her mother, Linda (Hewitt) Barnes of Pleasant Hill; husband, Chris Wilson of Pleasant Hill; two daughters, Sierra Wilson and Cheyenne Wilson of Grain Valley; one grandson, Graham Tipton; her father and mother-in-law, Jerry and Norma Pientka of Kansas City; brothers-in-law, John (and Sherri) Wilson and Randall (and Andrea) Pientka of Independence; sister-in-law, April (and Brad) Clark of Blue Springs; nieces and nephews, Sofia Clark, Jonathan Wilson, Savannah Wilson, Logan Wilson, Zach Jameson, and Olivia (and Jay) Simuel; her best friend, Tina (and Otto Porter) Bird and her daughter, Ashley Bird of Liberty; other relatives and friends including her German Shepherd, Izzy. She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Harry Barnes.

Visitation will be held 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 5, 2024, at the funeral home. Reverend Janice Hill will officiate. Interment will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Casket bearers are Brad Clark, Jerry Pientka, Randall Pientka, Will Morelock, Richie Summers, and John Wilson.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
