Michael Duane Gray, 67, of Lee's Summit, formerly of Pleasant Hill, was born May 30, 1947, in Harrisonville, Missouri, the son of William P. and Thelma M. (McBride) Gray. He departed this life at 2:09 p.m. on January 22, 2015, at the Kindred Hospital, Kansas City.
Mike was a 1965 Pleasant Hill High School graduate; later earning his Masters degree from the Southwest Baptist College.
On November 21, 1973, he was united in marriage to Jessie Hope Hudson in Pleasant Hill.
Mike was the store manager for their family business, Gray's Hardware, in Pleasant Hill for many years. Michael loved politics and closely followed all the elections. He also had an extensive collection of Political Buttons. He enjoyed spending time on his laptop. He was a former member of the Pleasant Hill Lions Club and the Pleasant Hill Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of the Grace Fellowship Baptist church where he had served as Deacon in the past.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents; one brother Ralph Gray; and one sister Marjorie Buckstead.
He is survived by his wife Jessie of Lee's Summit; one son Stephen Gray of Grain Valley; one daughter Emily Gray of Lee's Summit; four grandchildren, Landry, Emerson, Alyson, and Brady; one brother Marvin Gray of Pleasant Hill; one sister Lois James of Freeman; other relatives; and friends.
Cremation has been accorded. A memorial was held Thursday, February 5, 2015, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Diabetes Association and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
