Merle Morris

Merle Dean Morris, 75, of Harrisonville, Missouri, was born Friday, August 19, 1932 in Harrisonville, Missouri, the daughter of Murrel C. and Dorothy K. (Morris) Taylor. She departed this life Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at Crown Care Center, Harrisonville, Missouri.

On April 7, 1951 she was united in marriage to William E. Drehle, she later married Dee Parris on November 2, 1962; following his death in 1978 she married Richard P. Morris on November 14, 1992, he preceded her in death in 2006.

Merle was a Drill Press Operator for Wilcox Electric.

Besides her parents, and husbands, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Janet, a granddaughter, Tara Drehle and a brother Jerry Taylor.

She is survived by her son Terry Drehle and his wife Vickie, of Lee's Summit; her daughter Kathy Simms and her husband Bruce, of Pleasant Hill; 5 grandchildren Jonathon Drehle, of Lansing, Michigan, Jodie White and her husband Jay, of Scammon, Kansas, Nici Wilson and her husband Todd, of Pleasant Hill, Ryan Simms, of Pleasant Hill and Samantha Drehle of Lee's Summit; 6 great-grandchildren; her sister Joann Hammonds, of Harrisonville; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held Friday August 31, 2007 at the Stanley-Dickey Funeral Home. Pastor Carl Knapp officiated. Burial was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Casket bearers were Jonathon Drehle, Lane Hammonds, Ryan Simms, Jay White, Shelby White, Thad White, Terry Wilson, and Todd Wilson. Honorary casket bearers were Alisha Drehle, Brian Drehle, Nick Drehle, Samantha Drehle, Bo Sumner, and Tyne Wilson.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Crown Care Center and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
