Anna Marie Bagby, 85, of Pleasant Hill, was born on August 15, 1939, in Camden County, Missouri, the daughter of Melvin and Hazel M. (Patterson) Scott. She departed this life Monday, April 7, 2025, at her home surrounded by love and family.
Marie was a 1957 Versailles High School graduate.
On November 26, 1959, she was united in marriage to Gerald Dean Bagby in Independence.
Marie was first employed at the Businessmen’s Assurance Company of America in Kansas City, later working for the Lee’s Summit School district, and finished her career at Pfizer in Lee’s Summit. Above all she was a wonderful mother and homemaker. She was a member of the Grace Family Fellowship of Pleasant Hill and volunteered many hours for the Lay Clergy. She was also a member of the Pleasant Hill Red Hatters and the Hoot N’ Holler Square Dance Club. She enjoyed travelling (especially ocean cruises), snow skiing, tole painting, quilting, cooking, and gardening. Above all she loved time spent with her family.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents; two siblings, Bill Scott and Carolyn Huffman; one niece, Kim Farris, and one granddaughter-in-law, Becky Higgs.
She is survived by her husband Gerald of Pleasant Hill; daughter and son-in-law, Teri and Rob Vaughn of Urich, Missouri; son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Shelly Bagby of Pleasant Hill; five grandchildren, Robbie (and Kelly) Vaughn of Pleasant Hill, Christina (and Patrick) Benware of Urich, Missouri, Jacob Bagby (and Abdallah Abboud) of Woodbury, Minnesota, Keith (and Bethany) Higgs of Kingsville, Missouri, and Blake (and Morgan) Higgs of Pleasant Hill; nine great-grandchildren, Grayson, Brooks, Evie, Charlotte, Kinley, Nash, Gabe, Avery, and Addie; two sisters, June Brown of Farmington, Illinois, and Lois (and Loucian) Howser of Barnett, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Visitation and funeral services were held Monday, April 14. 2025, at the funeral home. Pastor Rob Vaughn officiated. Interment was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Casket bearers were Gary Bagby, Jacob Bagby, Blake Higgs, Keith Higgs, Robbie Vaughn, and Patrick Benware. Honorary casket bearers were Jim Huffman, Charlie Walker and Jon Melvin.
Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Croix Hospice and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
