Pleasant Hill, Missouri

Lois Ann Kimrey, 85, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was born December 27, 1939, in Strausburg, Missouri, the daughter of Austin W. and Pearl N. (Sechrest) Burris. She departed this life Sunday, January 12, 2025, at the Menorah Medical Center in Overland Park.

Lois was a 1958 Pleasant Hill High School graduate.

On March 27, 1959, she was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Herbert L. Kimrey at the First Baptist Church in Pleasant Hill. To this union three children, Herbert (Bert), Deborah, and LeAnn were born. Herbert and Lois enjoyed nearly 66 years of marriage together and were proud that they raised three Christian children.

Lois was a homemaker until her children left home. She went to work for Peterson Manufacturing in Grandview until her retirement. She was a member of the Big Creek Baptist Church in Pleasant Hill. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, canning, and was especially fond of her cat, Slick. She was Herb’s sweetheart and the glue that kept the family together.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, and five siblings, Melba Crain, Don Burris, Ralph Burris, Raymond Burris, and Ruth Starkey.

She is survived by her children, Herbert E. “Bert” (and Karen) Kimrey of Dunnellon, Florida, Debbie (and Jim) Hodges of Bentonville, Arkansas, and LeAnn (and Curtis) Jensen of Marshfield, Missouri; five grandchildren, Crystal (and Aaron) Tompkins, Rachel (and Caleb) Arthur, Bryan (and Ally) Jensen, Natalie Hodges, and Nicholas Hodges; seven great grandchildren; two sister-in-law’s, Zoan Burris, and Jackie Kimrey of Pleasant Hill; other relatives and friends.

Visitation and funeral services were held from Friday, January 17, 2025, at the funeral home. Pastor Jason Shipley officiated. Interment was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Casket bearers were Jim Hodges, Nicholas Hodges, Curtis Jensen, Bryan Jensen, Gene King, & Mike Gray. Honorary Casket bearers were Jim Wasson & John Wofford

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Big Creek Baptist Church and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
