Linel F. Rowland, 90, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was born Monday, September 2, 1918 in Paragould, Arkansas, the son of Floyd and Bessie (Green) Rowland. He departed this life Monday, April 27, 2009 at the Golden Living Center in Independence, Missouri.
On June 22, 1942, Linel was united in marriage to Frances Adams in Kennett, Missouri.
Linel was a WWII Army Veteran serving in the Pacific Theatre. He was born and raised on a a farm and farmed a majority of his life until he went to work for the State Highway Department which he retired from in 1981. He attended the Kellogg Baptist Church in Pleasant Hill.
Besides his parents, He is preceded in death by 2 brothers Meldrom and Jim Rowland; and 5 step brothers Bert, Clifford, Earl, J.T. & Ottis Eubanks.
He is survived by his wife Frances of the home; his son Bob (and Maggie) Rowland of Blue Springs; his daughter Linda (and Jim) Rowland Fraas of Peyton, Colorado; 3 grandchildren Daniel (and Jane) Rowland of Ipswich, Massachusetts, Angela Rowland of Porter, Oklahoma, and Shelley (and Michael) of Chicago, Illinois; 6 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 2, 2009, at the funeral home. Pastor Stephen Pennington of the Kellogg Baptist Church officiated. Interment was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery with a flag folding ceremony by the VFW Post #3118 Honor Guard. Casket bearers were Rob Eubanks, Jim Fraas, Stacy Henry, Jeremiah McCarty, Wesley Moon, and Bill Seaman.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Diabetes Association and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
