Lawrence R. "Larry" Burns, 74, Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was born Saturday, February 18, 1933 in Anderson, Indiana, the son of Halfred C. and Mary G. (Cala) Burns. He departed this life Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at his home.

On September 24, 1983, Lawrence was united in marriage to Sally M. Smith in Lee's Summit, Missouri.

Larry was a Meteorologist for the National Weather Service. He was a member of the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church and heavily involved in many areas of the church. He was also a member of the Pleasant Hill Chamber of Commerce.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister

He is survived by his wife Sally of the home; one son Thomas J. Luzader, Lee's Summit, Missouri; 5 daughters, Karen M. Block and husband Rex, Raytown, Missouri, Laura R. Wright, Independence, Missouri, Martha E. Boyd and husband Bill, Liberty, Missouri, Melissa A. Gibson and husband Gregory, Lee's Summit, Missouri, Angela D. Williams and husband Jason, Pleasant Hill; and one sister, Sandy Samuelson of Valparaiso, Indiana, 8 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held Friday, April 20, 2007 at the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. Reverends Carl Knapp, Bruce Jacobs and Bill O'Neal officiated. Honorary casket bearers were Rex Block, Paul Brooks, Greg Gibson, Tom Luzader, Jason Williams, and David Wright. Cremation followed services.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
