Larry Jerome Lovelace, Sr., 72 of Blue Springs Missouri, was born March 9, 1950, in Evansville, Indiana, the son of Norman and Ruby M. (Edgerson) Lovelace. He departed this life, Monday, May 9, 2022, at his home.
Larry was a 1968 Webster Groves, St. Louis, Missouri, high school graduate.
He was a proud United States Navy Vietnam War Veteran.
On March 24, 1970, he was united in marriage to Bettye Kay Jackson in East St. Louis, Illinois.
Larry was employed as a Heavy Equipment operator for LaFarge Construction, Sugar Creek. He was a member of the of Harvest Baptist Church, Blue Springs, Missouri. He loved riding motorcycles and was the founder of the Social Riders Motorcycle Club, Kansas City, Missouri.
Larry was preceded in death by one son, Kenta Zaire Lovelace; parents, Norman and Ruby Lovelace; one brother, Kimberlin Lovelace; and two sisters, Jean Rooney and Barbara Henderson.
He is survived by his wife, Bettye of 52 years; two sons, Berkeley Lovelace, Sr. of Blue Springs, and Larry (and Tara) Lovelace, Jr. Austin, Texas; eleven grandchildren, Alisha Lovelace, Gabriel Lovelace, Berkeley Lovelace, Jr., Marcus Andrews, Elexis Lovelace, Jade Kennedy, Trenton Lovelace, Dominique Lovelace, Isaac Montgomery, Lalleah Lovelace, and Kimberlin Lovelace; one brother, Gregory (and Joy) Lovelace of Lee’s Summit; a host of nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held one hour prior to the service, Friday, May 20, 2022, at the Harvest Baptist Church, Blue Springs.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 20, 2022, at the church. Pastor Dave Hill officiated.
Graveside services and interment followed in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery Higginsville. Casket bearers were Berkeley Lovelace Jr., Marcus Andrews, Dominique Lovelace, Trenton Lovelace, Isaac Montgomery, and Mahi Hall. Honorary Casket bearers were Curston Lovelace and Albert Padilla.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Harvest Baptist Church and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
