Kenneth Eugene Baker, 84, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was born April 15, 1939, in Nettleton, Missouri, the son of Loyd Harlon and Mary Marie (Dolan) Baker. He departed this life Thursday, December 28, 2023, at the Lee's Summit Medical Center.
Ken was a 1957 J.C. Penney, Hamilton, Missouri, high school graduate. He later earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg.
On August 15, 1964, he was united in marriage to Arduth M. Brumitt in Holden. To this union two children Ardette “LeAnne” and Lance were born.
Ken was first employed as a Corporate Credit Manager for the Standard Oil Company. Later working as a manager for the Sonic Drive-In in Pleasant Hill. He also owned and operated an Insulation Business for over 30 years. He was a member of the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church and a former member of the Masonic Lodge, Lions Club, and Kiwana’s. He enjoyed hunting, cooking, and long walks with his dog. He also loved listening to books on tape and listening to sports radio and was especially fond of time spent with his grandchildren.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Harlan Baker.
He is survived by his wife, Arduth of their home; his daughter and son-in-law, LeAnne and (Jeffrey) Dyer of Rapid City, South Dakota; his son and daughter-in-law, Lance and (Christina) Baker of Pleasant Hill; three grandchildren, Madison Dyer, Logan Baker, and Kylie Baker; one great granddaughter, Kiersten Dyer; other relatives and friends.
Cremation has been accorded.
A memorial visitation was held Thursday, January 4, 2023, at the funeral home.
Inurnment will be in the New York Cemetery, Hamilton, Missouri, at a later date.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Missouri Federation for the Blind and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
