Katherine Louise Beltz, 93, of Independence, was born October 13, 1931, in Birmingham, Alabama, the daughter of Nathan B. and Noren I. Winslow. She departed this life Friday, January 24, 2025, at her home in Independence surrounded by love and family.
On June 15, 1949, she was united in marriage to Hubert L. “Sonny” Beltz in Kansas City. They enjoyed 57 years of marriage before he passed away on January 26, 2007.
Katherine was a homemaker. When she was younger, she enjoyed bowling and working the American Royal. Later in life she and Sonny worked the polls in Independence during elections. She also enjoyed cross stitching, embroidery, and quilting. She was easy going and just let life happen. Above all she loved time spent with her family.
Katherine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Sonny Beltz; one daughter, Mary Wilkes; son-in-law, Steve Silvers; two brothers, Thomas Winslow and Bobby Winslow; two sisters, Virginia Naylor and Shirley Yates; and an infant granddaughter and infant great grandson.
She is survived by her children, Carol Silvers, Thomas Beltz, Donna (and Bill) O’Malley, Pamela (and Dan) Wood, Larry (and Karen) Beltz, all of Independence; John (and Dee Dee) Beltz of Raytown; son-in-law, Clay Wilkes of Independence; brother, Larry Winslow; sister, Ruth Clarkson of Clinton; fourteen grandchildren; twenty one great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
All services will be held Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at the funeral home.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Officiating Peggy Clinton. Interment will be in the Strasburg Cemetery. Casket bearers are Justin Silvers, Bill O’Malley IV, Jason O’Malley, John Beltz II, Ethan Beltz, Matthew Frisbee, Michael Frisbee, Nathan Beltz, and Zachary Beltz.
A celebration dinner will be held following the graveside at the Eastside Church, 19901 Rt. 78 (23rd St.), Independence, Missouri 64057. All are invited to attend.
