Justin Ray Jensen, 51, Independence, was born August 25, 1972, in Harrisonville, the son of Darrel R. and Glenda L. (Breeden) Jensen. He departed this life Friday, October 20, 2023, at his home with Chris by his side.
Justin was a 1990 Pleasant Hill High School graduate who took pride in his “PHD" aka Pleasant Hill High School Diploma. While he was in high school, he was actively involved with the Hillside Singers and the Yearbook Staff. He was a member of the National Honor Society.
Justin was gifted in communication and used it throughout his career in customer service. For anyone who knew Justin, he had an uncanny way of using his customer service skills and his sarcastic, yet warm, sense of humor to gain control of almost any situation and turn it around. Sometimes you didn’t know what happened but suddenly you were caught up in what he was telling you and all was ok.
He was first employed at Ponderosa, later Hardee’s and the Red Door Childrens Center in Lee’s Summit. He then spent seventeen years in customer service with AT&T. Following his time with AT&T he worked for Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Groupon and CVS Caremark, until he became a full-time care giver for his mother. Most recently he was employed at Simple Simon’s Pizza. He was a member of the Communications Workers of America.
Justin enjoyed binge watching his favorite shows, playing board games, cards, dominoes, darts, and Scrabble with family and friends, digital photography, gardening, knitting and crocheting, and playing with his dogs. He was a consummate thrift store shopper as well as a wonderful cook. He worked across several social media accounts sharing stories about his thrift store finds, his recipes, his dogs, and many other little stories about work and life.
Justin was preceded in death by his parents and his step father-in-law Duane Harper.
He is survived by his life partner and fiancé, Chris Dudley of Independence; his sister and brother-in-law Teresa and Randy Vaughan of Pleasant Hill; nephews, Steven Vaughan and David Vaughan, both of Pleasant Hill; one aunt, Janet Fenton of Pleasant Hill; his father-in-law and his wife, James and Trisha (Horner) Dudley of Norman, Oklahoma; his mother-in-law Charleen (Pratt) Harper of Waucoma, Iowa; other relatives and a host of many friends.
Cremation has been accorded. A celebration of his life gathering will be held 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, November 18, 2023, at the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church in the Hospitality Room (1300 Lexington Rd., Pleasant Hill, Missouri 64080).
