Juanita F. Sechrest

Independence, Missouri

Juanita Ferne Sechrest, 92, of Independence, formerly of Pleasant Hill, was born April 29, 1932, in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of James R. and Opal F. (Hackett) Stubbs. She departed this life Friday, October 18, 2024, at the Monterey Park Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Independence.

Juanita was a Strasburg High School graduate.

On April 14, 1951, she was united in marriage to Edward Ross Sechrest Sr. in Pleasant Hill. Ross preceded her in death on April 4, 2020.

Juanita was a long-time employee of the Blue Ridge Bank in Kansas City. She was a former member of the Raytown First Baptist Church and a current member of the Big Creek Baptist Church in Pleasant Hill. 

Juanita was also preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Wathena Stock.

She is survived by two sons, Edward “Eddie” (and Karen) Sechrest, Jr. of Grain Valley, and James “Jimmy” Sechrest of Warner Springs, California; two grandchildren, DeAnna Bass of Lone Jack and Stormy (and Lisa) Dale of Centerview; six great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; her brother-in-law, Tom Stock of Raymore; other relatives and friends.

Visitation and funeral services were held Friday, October 25, 2024, at the funeral home. Reverend Dustin Rosner officiated. 

Cremation was accorded following services. Inurnment was in the Strasburg Cemetery.
