Joseph Yotz, II

Joseph "Joe" Paul Yotz, II, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was born December 17, 1921 in St. Paul, Kansas, the son of Vade and Ella Shull. He departed this life Wednesday, October 25, 2006 at his home at the age of 84 years, 10 months and 8 days.

On January 28, 1950, Joseph was united in marriage to Mary Louise Hurley in Kansas City, Missouri.

Joe attended Harrisonville High School in Harrisonville, Missouri, leaving school early to join the United States Navy. Joe received his high school diploma from the state of Missouri as part of Operation Recognition in a special ceremony at Harrisonville High School in June 2002. He is a veteran of WWII, during which time he served in both the Pacific and European theatres as a Master Diver. Joseph was a self-employed electronic technician in the Independence area for over 50 years. He was a member of the Strasburg Baptist Church, Strasburg, Missouri. He enjoyed boating, photography, woodworking, reading and most of all story telling.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Joseph is survived by his wife, Louise Yotz of the home; three sons, Joseph P. Yotz III and wife Tonya, Pleasant Hill, Gregory A. Yotz and wife Laurie, Gridley, Kansas, Christopher S. Yotz and wife Paige, Kansas City, Missouri; three daughters, Sally M. Swope and husband Kevin, Lee's Summit, Suzy Adams and husband Dennis, Lone Jack, Missouri, Jennifer L. Yotz, San Dimas, California; seventeen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Lucy Bartlett and husband Bart, Parkville, Missouri; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Services were held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 28, 2006 at the Stanley-Dickey Funeral Home, Pleasant Hill. Pastor Preston Sanders officiated. Graveside military services were performed by the VFW Post #3118 Honor Guard, Pleasant Hill. Visitation was held 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, October 27, 2006 at the funeral home.

Pall bearers were Joseph P. Yotz, III, Gregory A. Yotz, Christopher S. Yotz, Dennis Adams, Kevin Swope and Archie C. Bradshaw, Jr.
