Joseph W. Kitchen, 87, of Oak Grove, Missouri, was born Sunday, December 26, 1920 in Aneroid, Saskatchewan Canada, the son of Dr. William C. and Eva M. (Burch) Kitchen. He departed this life Friday, February 1, 2008 at Oak Grove Nursing & Rehab.

On September 6, 1992, Joseph was united in marriage to Helen Louise Bagshaw in Memphis, Tennessee.

Joseph worked for General Motors-AC Delco Spark Plug where he was a member of the UAW Local 651, retiring in 1983. He was a member of the Oak Grove Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother.

He is survived by his wife Helen of the home; 2 sons Edward J. Kitchen and wife Karen of Granger, Indiana, and George W. Kitchen and wife Sandra of Clio, Michigan; 2 daughters Elizabeth M. Brown of Flint, Michigan, and Dixie L. Skaggs and husband Bennie of Huntsville, Missouri; 1 brother Charles Kitchen and wife Martha of Franklin, Indiana; 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchild; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held Monday, February 4, 2008, at the funeral home, Pleasant Hill. Pastor Ignacio Chaviano officiated. Burial was in the Kingsville Cemetery. Casket bearers were Bennie Skaggs, Matt Everts, Mike Riddle, Mike Butt, Ken McFee, Don Reaves and Ray Dechman.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Oak Grove Seventh Day Adventist Church and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
