John William (Bill) Anderson, 92, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, also known as "Pawpaw Bill" to his family, was born Saturday, April 24, 1915 in McKinley, Missouri, the son of Alva D. and Ella E. (Head) Anderson. He departed this life Monday, December 24, 2007 at his home in Pleasant Hill.
On October 2, 1937 John was united in marriage to Lorretta M. Michael; she preceded him in death on April 27, 1985. On August 30, 1986, he was united in marriage to Lou Smith in Pleasant Hill; she preceded him in death on January 19, 1991. On June 20, 1992, John was united in marriage to Buddie Grace Cain in Lee's Summit, Missouri.
John was a WWII United States Navy veteran serving on the war ship Bunker Hill. John was a salesman for the company Blue Plate Special. He also barbequed and sold a variety of smoked meats. He had been a caretaker at the Pleasant Hill City Lake. He was a life member of the Pleasant Hill VFW Post #3118 and a former member of the Malden, Missouri Lions Club.
Besides his parents and first 2 wives, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Barbara Lou Anderson, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
He is survived by his wife Buddie of the home; 2 daughters Brenda Willis & husband Bob and Susie Todd and husband H.A. all of Pleasant Hill; 3 step-children John Rowe and wife Danelle, Melanie Horrell and husband Ken, and Sherri Stewart and husband William; 10 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; 3 sisters; other relatives and many friends.
Graveside services were held Friday, December 28, 2007, at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery Chapel. Reverend Laura Hilton officiated. The flag presentation was conducted by VFW Post #3118.
