JoAnn Holzbaur

Patsy JoAnn Holzbaur, 86, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was born February 15, 1938, in Tupelo, Arkansas, the daughter of Houston and Stella (Henson) Canard.  She departed this life Monday, May 6, 2024, at Saint Luke’s East Hospital in Lee’s Summit surrounded by love and family.

On August 7, 1954, she was united in marriage to James Arliss Holzbaur in Independence, Missouri.   He preceded her in death on July 25, 2013.

Patsy was employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse for the Cass Medical Center, Lee’s Summit Hospital, and John Knox Village.  She was a member of the Manna Fellowship Church near Pleasant Hill where she was active in the Jolly’s Group and Bible Study.  She enjoyed time spent at the lake, decorating ceramics, taking care of her pets, and working in her flower beds.  

JoAnn was also preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Claira Dorsey and Lois Chavez.

She is survived by two children, Debbie (and Jim) Jones of Pleasant Hill, and James (and Mary) Holzbaur of Higbee, Missouri; five grandchildren, Blaine Bunch, Jr. of Pleasant Hill, Hollie (and Richard) Youngblood of Pleasant Hill, Danielle Jones of Pleasant Hill, Megan (and Shane) Fetters of Pleasant Hill, and Jamie Kelley of Monroe City, Missouri; seven great grandchildren, Cooper Youngblood, Gavin Youngblood, Mason Wright, Easton Fetters, Creed Kemerling, Everett Kelley and Scarlett Kelley; other relatives and friends.

Visitation and funeral services were held Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at the funeral home.  Pastor Bill Boren officiated. Interment was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Casket bearers were Blaine Bunch, Jr., Shane Fetters, James Holzbaur, Jr., Jim Jones, Cooper Youngblood and Richard Youngblood. Honorary casket bearers were all her great-grandchildren.
