Jimmy Gene Poindexter, of Lake Ozark, Missouri, formerly of the Pleasant Hill area was born Wednesday, May 6, 1964 in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Thomas Clifford Poindexter and Barbara (Porter) Colacicco. He departed this life Thursday, February 22, 2007 at his home in Lake Ozark, at the age of 42 years, 9 months and 6 days.
He was a 1983 graduate of Raytown High School and served his country by enlisting in the army following graduation. He was a meat cutter for the Hy-Vee food chain, learning his trade from his grandfather, James Porter a well known meat cutter in Cass county. Jimmy loved the outdoors, and enjoyed fishing, hunting and his critters. He was preceded in death by his grandfather James Porter, on October 10, 2006. His father Thomas passed away 2 days after Jimmy on February 24, 2007.
He is survived by his maternal grandmother, Esther Porter, Pleasant Hill; mother Barbara Colacicco, Pleasant Hill; son, James Poindexter, Hayward, CA; brother, Thomas Poindexter, Pleasant Hill; sister Brenda & her husband Rick O'Kane, Pleasant Hill; girlfriend Denise Dryer, Lake Ozark; 2 nephews Stephen and Wesley; other relatives and many friends.
Cremation has been accorded. A memorial service was held February 27, 2007, at the Stanley-Dickey Funeral Home, Pleasant Hill. Reverend D. Kent Deubner officiated. Military honors were provided by the Pleasant Hill VFW Post #3118 Honor Guard.
