Jasper W. "Dode" Comer, Jr., 81, of Strasburg, Missouri, was born Saturday, April 3, 1926 in Hadsell, Missouri, the son of Jasper W. and Elizabeth L. "Lizzy" Comer. He departed this life Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at the Pleasant Hill Health & Rehabilitation Center.
On June 23, 1951, Jasper was united in marriage to Faye Hackett in Pleasant Hill, Missouri. She preceded him in death 11 days earlier on September 15, 2007.
Jasper was a WWII Army veteran. He worked for the Tri State Petroleum Company for over 39 years retiring in 1988. He was a member of St. Bridget Catholic Church, Pleasant Hill. He was a former board member of the Strasburg Cemetery Association, a former Alderman and past Mayor of Strasburg and past president of Cass County PWD #1
Besides his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by 1 sister Virginia Walker. He is survived by his son Randy and his wife Janet, Liberty, Missouri; his daughter Cheryl and her husband Rick of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, 3 Grandchildren Keri and Kevin Comer of Liberty and Brooke Randolph of Pleasant Hill; 4 sisters Dorothy Thorp, Terry Kiger, and Connie Fisher all of Pleasant Hill and Mary Jo Parks and her husband Ray of Peculiar, Missouri; several nieces and nephews: other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Monday, October 1, 2007, at St. Bridget Catholic Church, Pleasant Hill. Monsignor Robert Murphy and Deacon Gary Kappler officiated. Burial was in the Strasburg Cemetery. Casket bearers were Tim Long, Bruce Simms, Bryan Simms, Tom Stock, Earl Wingard and Keith Wingard. Honorary casket bearers were Keri Comer, Kevin Comer, and Brooke Randolph.
