James Hackett

James D. Hackett, 82, of Derby, Kansas, formerly of Strasburg, was born Friday, December 26, 1924 in Lathrop, Missouri, the son of Claude Aines and Virginia Mae (Rogers) Hackett. He departed this life Saturday, December 15, 2007, at his home in Derby.

On August 8, 1947, James was united in marriage to Betty Jo Dernosek in Pleasant Hill; she preceded him in death on July 6, 2001. He married Louise Parker Zollinger on September 7, 2001 in Strasburg.

James was a United States WWII Navy veteran. He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for a number of years before he became a Training and Development Manager for the Fleming Corporation.

He enjoyed traveling, spending most mornings at the Derby senior center, and worked as a volunteer at the Wichita Red Cross Center.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister Faye Comer.

He is survived by his wife Louise of Derby, Kansas; one son Richard Hackett and fiancAC. Larindia Johansen of Lee's Summit, Missouri; one daughter Patricia A. Berger of Scott City, Missouri; two stepdaughter's Kathy Solnok of Derby and TeddiAnne Krehbiel of Wichita, Kansas; one stepson Floyd Zollinger of Derby; one brother Granville Hackett of Strasburg, Missouri; two sisters Allie Jo Ayres and Fern Graves both of Strasburg, Missouri; grandchildren Jon, Andy and David Hackett, Ronnie, Ray, Robbie, and Shannon Brown, Michelle and Marshall Ellis, and Sydney and Riley Krehbiel; 17 great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.

Cremation has been accorded. A memorial service was held Saturday, January 5, 2008, at the Stanley-Dickey Funeral Home. Reverend David Hackett officiated. A military flag folding presentation was conducted by members of VFW Post #3118. Burial was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Derby Senior Center and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
