Irene Alexander

Mrs. Irene Swift Alexander, 98, of Jonesboro, Arkansas, formerly of Pleasant Hill, was born Wednesday, June 2, 1909 in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of M.R. and Linda Pooler Swift. She departed this life Saturday, November 24, 2007 at her home in Jonesboro.

On March 5, 1946, Irene was united in marriage to Thomas Walter Alexander in Topeka, Kansas.

Irene was a Homemaker. She attended the First Baptist Church in Jonesboro where she worked in the Baptist Care Center for seven years. She also attended Nettleton Baptist Church where she was very active in her Sunday School class.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, 2 brothers and 1 sister.

She is survived by her daughter Barbara Shirley, Jonesboro; 2 step-daughters Ade Bell Stauffer, Bilga, Texas, and Bonnie Murphy, St. Joseph, Missouri; 12 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Thursday, November 29, 2007, at the Stanley-Dickey Funeral Home. Brother Scott Voss officiated. Burial was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
