Hubert L. Beltz, also known to others as "Sonny", "Herb", "Les", and "H.L.", of Independence, Missouri, was born Monday, March 17, 1924 in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Lester L. and Ethel P. (Kizer) Beltz. He departed this life Friday, January 26, 2007 at his home at the age of 82. On June 15, 1949, Hubert was united in marriage to Katherine Louise Winslow in Kansas City, Missouri.
Hubert was employed as a Truck Driver for A-Z Manufacturing of Independence.
He loved to play the guitar and sing, play cards, smoke, and tease the grandkids, he especially enjoyed his family. He was a family man, and was the best husband, dad, grandpa, grandpa-great and friend that anyone could ask for.
Besides his parents, He is preceded in death by two half brothers, a half sister, a granddaughter and a great grandson.
He is survived by his wife, Katherine, of 57 years; his children, Carol & Steve Silvers, Thomas & Patty Beltz, Donna & Bill O'Malley, Pamela & Dan Wood, Mary & Clay Wilkes, Larry & Karen Beltz, all of Independence, John & Dee Dee Beltz, of Raytown; 14 Grandchildren; 9 Great Grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 30, 2007 at the Stanley-Dickey Funeral Home, Pleasant Hill, Missouri. Reverend Peggy Clinton officiated. Burial was in the Strasburg Cemetery, Strasburg, Missouri. Casket bearers were Mike Duane, Scott Echols, Mike Mader, Rodger Merritt, Bill O'Malley IV, Jason O'Malley, Bob Parrish, and Doug Zieler.
A celebration of his life and luncheon followed services at the Moose Lodge in Sugar Creek.
