Mrs. Hazel Kessel of Pleasant Hill, Missouri was born August 6, 1914 in Iatan, Missouri the daughter of Lester Leeton and Georgia (Ferrell) Bell. She departed this life on Sunday, August 10, 2008 at Royal Terrace Nursing and Rehabilitation, Olathe, Kansas at the age of 94 years and 4 days.
On April 29, 1935, Hazel was united in marriage to Edwin Lee Kessel in Coleman, Missouri.
Hazel was a homemaker. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, the NHSM Club and was a charter member of the Pleasant Hill Lioness Club all of Pleasant Hill. She was a 1931 graduate of Pleasant Hill High School. Hazel had lived near Peculiar, Missouri for 21 years, near Odessa, Missouri for 21 years before returning to Pleasant Hill in 1980. The past 9 months she had lived near her daughter, Donna in Olathe, Kansas.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin on December 27, 1979 and her brother, Jim Bell.
She is survived by two daughters, Donna J. Harper and husband, Robert, Gardner, Kansas, Judy Smith and husband, Norman, Fairfax, Iowa; four grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; a sister, Lois Hodges, Clinton, Missouri; other relatives and many friends.
Graveside service were held Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Pleasant Hill, Missouri.
