Gladys Lucille Fredrickson, 95, Pleasant Hill, MO, passed away December 2, 2006, at John Knox Care Center, Lee's Summit. She was born May 25, 1911, in Garden City, MO to George B. and Nellie Groh Gilkeson.
She graduated from Garden City High School in 1929, as valedictorian of her class. She received her teacher's certification from Warrensburg State teacher's college in 1934. She was an elementary teacher in Harrisonville and rural Cass County for 13 years. Gladys married Theodore G. Fredrickson on April 19, 1947, in Kansas City, KS. He preceded her in death in September 1982. They made their home on a farm southwest of Pleasant Hill. She was a life long Methodist and member of the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, leader of the Hickory Grove 4-H club, enjoyed entertaining, gardening, and her beautiful flowers. Gladys was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who will be sadly missed by all.
She is survived by 2 daughters, Sue Ellen Thurman and husband Jim, Independence, and Lucille Powell and husband Allen, Pleasant Hill; 2 granddaughters, Lucinda Powell, and Leah Lindstrom and husband Scott, all of Lee's Summit; great grandson Carson Andrew Lindstrom, also of Lee's Summit; a sister, Vera Orr of Mission, KS; and many family and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her brother Dale and George B. Gilkeson.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 5, 2006, at the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church with burial in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
