George Harrer

George Daniel Harrer, 97, of Omaha, Nebraska, formerly of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was born Tuesday, April 29, 1913 in Pleasant Hill, the son of Martin Leander Harrer and Emma Louise (Hebe) Harrer. He departed this life at 10:10 p.m. on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at the Brighton Gardens Nursing Community in Omaha.

On March 28, 1937, he was united in marriage to Willa Mae Sumner in Kansas City, Missouri. They were married for over 68 years before preceding him in death on May 3, 2005.

George worked as a Lab Technician for Country Club Dairy in Kansas City until retirement. While living in Pleasant Hill he and Willa Mae were members of the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. In 1992 they moved to Nebraska to be close to their daughter and her family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Willard Harrer and Cameron Harrer and one sister Dorothy Crawford.

He is survived by daughter Dianne and husband Cleo Robinson of Omaha, granddaughter Courtney and husband David DeLaRosa, two great grandchildren Hannah and Luke all of Houston, Texas, two sisters Edith Mae Harrer and Pauline Ashcroft both of Pleasant Hill, several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Graveside funeral services were held Thursday, November 4 at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Pastor Carl Knapp of the Pleasant Hill United Methodist church officiated.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
