Francine W. Whited

Francine Wilma “Fran” Whited, 84, of Peculiar, was born Thursday, September 26, 1940, in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Harold A. and Wilma J. (Barnett) Hunt. She departed this life Saturday, December 21, 2024, at the Belton Regional Medical Center.

Fran was a 1958 South East High School graduate.

On November 2, 1958, she was united in marriage to Lawrence R. Whited in Kansas City, Missouri, and to this union three children, Laurie Sue, Jeffrey Harold, and Jeanne Marie, were born.

Fran spent her entire life caring for children in the Pleasant Hill Community. She drove a bus for the Pleasant Hill R-III School District for over 20 years and following retirement she worked for Kidz, Inc. in Pleasant Hill. She was an active member of the Big Creek Baptist Church in Pleasant Hill. She enjoyed mowing and working in her yard, going to garage and estate sales, watching classic movies, and listening to almost any type of music (she held season tickets to the Lyric Opera for many years). Above all she loved taking care of children at school, daycare, and church. 

Fran was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Glen Hunt and Carl Hunt.

She is survived by her husband, Larry of Peculiar; three children, Laurie Whited of Peculiar, Jeffrey Whited and husband Paul of Dallas, Texas, and Jeanne Whited of Kansas City, Kansas; one sister, Susan Hunt-Marcum of Lee’s Summit; other relatives and a host of many friends.

Visitation and funeral services were held Saturday, December 28, 2024, at the Big Creek Baptist Church, Pleasant Hill. Pastor Jason Shipley officiated. Interment was in the Memorial Park Cemetery, Kansas City, Missouri. Casket bearers were Clayton Gentry, Nick Gentry, Shaun Gentry, Danny Godsey, Mitch Godsey, Danny Marcum, and Jay McClintock.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
