Everett Ray Foster, 68, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was born Tuesday, June 11, 1940 in Appleton City, Missouri, the son of Samuel Everett and Edna I. (Miller) Foster. He departed this life Sunday, November 16, 2008 at his home.
On August 5, 1961, Ray was united in marriage to Charlene Johnson in Pleasant Hill, Missouri.
Ray worked for Pitman Manufacturing in Grandview for over 22 years, later working for Pioneer Manufacturing. Following his retirement in 2003 he worked for Schultz Manufacturing in Blue Springs and the Southfarm Greenhouse near Pleasant Hill.
Ray was an active member of Jewell Lodge #480 A.F. & A.M. at Pleasant Hill, where he served as Worshipful Master in 1998-1999, and received his 25 year pin in September 2008. He was a Royal Arch Mason in Wyoming Chapter #43 where he served as Excellent High Priest in the year 2000, 2003, 2004, and 2005. He was a member and Past Worthy Patron of Ivy Leaf Chapter #215, Order of the Eastern Star. He was also an active leader in the International Order of Rainbow for Girls for several years. He was also a member of 1st Baptist Church of Pleasant Hill.
He was preceded in death by his father, one brother Michael L. Foster, and one grandchild Chance Elijah Rinker-Brown.
He is survived by his mother Edna Foster of Prairie Grove, Arkansas, formerly of Kingsville, Missouri; his wife Charlene Foster of the home; one son Dennis Foster (and Carol) of St. Clair, Missouri; two daughters Teresa Craig (and Randy) of Greenwood, Missouri and Darla Foster of Antioch, Tennessee; 5 grandchildren Steven, Brett, Valerie, Zachary & Jacob; one great grandchild Owen; 1 brother David M. Foster (and Lorna) of Prairie Grove, Arkansas; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Thursday, November 20, 2008, at the Stanley-Dickey Funeral Home in Pleasant Hill. Reverend Dana Williams officiated. Interment was in the Kingsville Cemetery. Casket bearers were Bob Cleveland, Darryl Foster, David Foster, Kevin Foster, Zak Harveky, and Larry Dean Johnson.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Jewell Lodge #480 A.F & A.M. of Pleasant Hill or Odyssey Hospice and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
