Esther Porter

Esther B. Porter, 91, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was born Sunday, October 29, 1916 in Ceresco, Nebraska the daughter of William H. and Wanda (Saathoff) Maynard. She departed this life Monday, August 25, 2008 at her daughter's home near Pleasant Hill.

On March 12, 1941, Esther was united in marriage to James F. Porter in Pleasant Hill, Missouri. They were married 65 years before he preceded her in death on October 10, 2006.

Esther was a homemaker and a dedicated farm wife. She was a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter Wanda Sue Porter, a grandson Jimmy Poindexter; 2 sisters, Maxine Hershberger and Gladys Bell.

She is survived by her daughter Barbara (Porter) Colacicco of Pleasant Hill; 2 grandchildren, Thomas Poindexter and his fiancAC. Linda Cupp of Strasburg and Brenda O'Kane and her husband Rick of Pleasant Hill; 3 great grandchildren Stephen Johnson, Wesley Moody, and James Poindexter; 1 great-great grandson Lucas Johnson; 2 sister's Faye Porter of Pleasant Hill and Margaret Vaughn and her husband Bernie of Harrisonville; other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services were held Friday, August 29, 2008 at the Stanley-Dickey Funeral Home. Reverends Carl Knapp and S.E. Warren officiated. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Casket bearers were Gary Freeland, Richard Freeland, Russell Freeland, Rick O'Kane, Johnny Porter, Glover Springer and Leland Reed. Honorary casket bearers were Stephen Johnson and Wesley Moody.
