Emma Lacy Vaughn, 87, a lifelong resident of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was born Thursday, April 14, 1921 in Pleasant Hill the daughter of Charles R. and Mossie P. (Hipsher) Wright. She departed this life Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at her daughter's home in Lake Lotawana.
On March 2, 1945, she was united in marriage to the late Harry D. Vaughn in Olathe, Kansas.
Emma was a homemaker. She had also worked as a time keeper for Pratt & Whitney during World War II, later for Gates Rubber Company in Denver, Colorado and Montgomery Ward in Kansas City. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Pleasant Hill.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother Willis Warren Wright and her son Harry Timothy Vaughn on August 19, 2003.
She is survived by her 2 daughters Mary Anne Vaughn of Lake Lotawana and Betty Lou (and Dean) Gray of Pleasant Hill; 2 grandchildren Donald R. (and Jodie) Lycan of Olathe, Kansas, and Lacette A. (and Tommy) Price of Centreville, Virginia; 1 great grandchild Blake Lycan of Olathe; 4 step-grandchildren, Mike (and Dawn) Gray of Pleasant Hill, Missy (and Jeff) McKee of Pleasant Hill, Veronica Cash of Independence and Crystal Simpson of Lee's Summit ; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, February 14, 2009, at the funeral home. Reverend Rob Vaughn of the First Baptist Church of Pleasant Hill officiated. Burial was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Casket bearers were Gary Bagby, Todd Burris, Mike Gray, Mike Griffith, Jeff McKee, Bill Vaughn, Chris Vaughn and Rick Vaughn.
