Elsie Penland

Elsie Lavern Penland, 89, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was born Sunday, July 3, 1921 in Thayer, Missouri, the daughter of Jess and Gertrude Jane (Brazeal) Linson. She departed this life at 7:08 p.m. on Sunday, April 24, 2011 at the Pleasant Hill Health & Rehabilitation Center.

In 1964, Elsie was united in marriage to John R. Penland. He preceded her in death in 1971.

Elsie was employed by the Pleasant Hill Garment Factory and the Kansas City Garment Factory. Following her marriage to John they moved to St. Louis where she became a homemaker.

She was also preceded in death by her sister Marie Olinger and an infant daughter.

She is survived by two sons Charles W. Anderson and his wife Elizabeth of Jennings, Florida, and Robert L. Anderson and his wife Carol of North Richland Hills, Texas; 8 grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Graveside funeral services were held Wednesday, April 27, 2011, at the Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery.
