Elizabeth C. Whitacre, 96, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was born Tuesday February 27, 1912 in Nome, N. Dakota, to William W. and Elizabeth Nei Cooke. She departed this life Wednesday April 16, 2006 at the Pleasant Hill Health and Rehabilitation Center in Pleasant Hill, Missouri.

On June 15, 1937 Elizabeth married John W. Hamilton in Minneapolis, MN. He preceded her in death on April 1, 1956. On May 9, 1970 she married Corwin C. Whitacre in Flossmoor, IL. He preceded her in death on October 15, 1992. She was also preceded in death by her brother Lewis Cooke, and sisters Mazee Cooke and Meredith DeClercq.

Elizabeth was a school teacher. She was an accomplished piano, organ and violin player. She was a member of Kappa Delta and Sigma Alpha Iota (professional music sororities) and a parishioner of St. Bridget Catholic Church.

She is survived by her son David Hamilton and his wife Lorraine of Pleasant Hill, her daughter Laurie Hamilton and her partner Wayne McClellan of Burns, Wyoming, 5 grandchildren-John Hamilton and his wife Monica of Pleasant Hill, Jessica Laddish and her husband Chris of Lee's Summit, Sarah Tyrrell and her husband Brian of Blue Springs, David John Buchmeier and his wife Debbie of Cheyenne, Wyoming and Daniel Buchmeier and his wife Meegan of Santa Monica, California. She leaves 8 great grandchildren- Bradley, Coleton, Samantha, Lauren, Amber, Mandy, Julia and Alaina. Many other relatives and friends will miss Elizabeth.

Cremation has been accorded. A private family memorial mass will be said at a later date at St. Bridget. Inurnment of ashes will be held at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Chicago, Illinois at a later date.
