DOROTHY J. VAUGHN

Dorothy Jane Vaughn, 73, of Pleasant Hill, was born, October 11, 1944, in Kansas City, the daughter of Auda and Stella (McCalpin) Slagle.  She departed this life, Monday, September 24, 2018, at the Lee’s Summit Medical Center Surrounded with love and family.

On August 28, 1960, she was united in marriage to Richard Danny Vaughn in Greenwood.

Dorothy was a homemaker and wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother.  She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, quilting, crafting and cooking.  She also enjoyed working on her I Pad.

Dorothy was preceded in death by one brother Bobby Slagle, and two sisters, Joyce Hitchcock and Anne Frieben.

She is survived by her husband Danny of Pleasant Hill; three sons Rick (and Holly) Vaughn of Pleasant Hill, Chris (and Robin) Vaughn of Amoret, and Kelly Vaughn of Burleson, Texas; five grandchildren, Loren Faldz of Peculiar, Chad (and Sarah) Vaughn of East Lynn, Mitchell Vaughn of Pleasant Hill, Korie Vaughn and Collin Vaughn , both of Burleson; 5 great grandchildren, Aaron, Lydia, Nona, Jimi, and Zoey; one brother, John (and Kathy) Slagle of Holden; one sister, Jackie (and Scott)  Patterson of Concordia; other relatives and friends.

Visitation was held Thursday, September 27, 2018, at the funeral home.

Funeral services were held Friday, September 28, 2018, at the funeral home.  Reverend Rob Vaughn officiated.  Interment was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.  Casket bearers were Ian Patterson, Scott Patterson, Bruce Sloan, Bill Vaughn, Chad Vaughn, and Collin Vaughn.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Children’s Mercy Hospital and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
