Kansas City, Missouri

Dorothy Lorene Ellifrits, 96, of Kansas City, was born March 4, 1928, in Nevada, Missouri, the daughter of Alfred T. McCrery and Hettie E. Ellifrits. She departed this life Monday, September 30, 2024, at the Beautiful Savior Nursing Home in Belton.

Lorene was a 1947 Rolla High School graduate.

Lorene was employed for over 40 years as an Accountant for the Hallmark Corporation retiring on April 26, 1991. She was a member of the Community Christian Church. She was an avid Chiefs and Royals fan and held season tickets to both for many years. She enjoyed collecting Dolls, Hallmark Ornaments, and Chiefs/Royals memorabilia. She also enjoyed traveling, crocheting, puzzles, and a good game of Pinochle.

Lorene was preceded in death by her long-time companion, Richard Wissel and by eight brothers and seven sisters. 

She is survived by her sister, Ruby Ellifrits-Gillette of Kansas City, numerous nieces and nephews as well as many great nieces and nephews.

Visitation and funeral services were held Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at the funeral home.  Pastor Rick Friezen of the Manna Church officiated.

Cremation was accorded following service. Inurnment will be in the Strasburg Cemetery at a later date.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
