Donald Miller

Donald Wesley Miller, 68, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was born Sunday, March 24, 1940 in Pleasant Hill, Missouri the son of C.W. and Marie (Pine) Miller. He departed this life Saturday, February 7, 2009, surrounded by his family at his home.

On June 8, 1963, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Jean McMurphy in Pleasant Hill, Missouri.

Donnie worked for Missouri Gas Energy for 38 years retiring in 2000. He was a veteran of the United States Army where he served as a Radar Operator. He was a member of Jewel Lodge #480 A.F. & A.M. and the Pleasant Hill First Christian Church-Disciples of Christ. He enjoyed working in the yard, collecting toy cars, and spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 infant children, 1 grandson Denton Wayne Miller, 1 brother Kenneth Miller, and 1 sister Eunice Hedger.

He is survived by his wife Dorothy of the home; his son and daughter-in-law Douglas & Julie Miller of Liberty; his daughter and son-in-law Dana and Jim Doyle of Lake Ozark, Missouri, 5 grandchildren April Miller, Adam Doyle, Anthony Doyle, Ashlynne Doyle, and Alec Doyle; 1 brother and sister-in-law Howard & Judy Miller of Pleasant Hill; 1 sister and brother-in-law Flo and J.B. Myers of Gladstone; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held Thursday, February 12, 2009, at the funeral home. Reverend D. Kent Deubner of the Pleasant Hill First Christian Church-Disciples of Christ officiated. Burial was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery with graveside military services conducted by the Pleasant Hill VFW Post #3118 Honor Guard. Casket bearers were Jason Beatty, Brian Clevenger, Tim Kimrey, Jeff Miller, Mark Miller, Rex Scott, Jason Wasson, and Mike Zellmer.
