Dee Manuel Winters, 76, of Kansas City, Missouri, was born May 26, 1948, in Kansas City, the son of William D. “Bill” and Maria D. (Gorgita) Winters. He departed this life Monday, March 17, 2025, at his home.

Dee was a 1968 Ruskin High School graduate.

In 1968, he was united in marriage to Margie Owen in Kansas City, and to this union two daughters, Deanna and Amy, were born; they later divorced. On April 8, 1978, he was united in marriage to Corrie Sievers and to this union, one daughter, Natalie was born; they later divorced. On February 21, 1991, he was united in marriage to Michelle Kroeger and to this union one daughter, Tyler, was born; they later divorced.

Dee was employed as a Trim Carpenter. He started his career working for his father’s company, Bill Winters Remodeling, LLC, in Kansas City, later working for his brother at JCB Enterprises Inc. of Overland Park. He finished his career as a salesman for Locks & Pulls in Kansas City. While working as a carpenter he was a member of the Carpenters Union Local #61. He was also a gifted artist and could build anything he set his mind to. He used his talent in his crafting, drawing, and whittling. He was an avid sports enthusiast who enjoyed everything from watching the hometown Chiefs and Royals to watch all the kids play sports; he even spent much of his free time playing a variety of sports from baseball to tennis and even bowling.

Dee was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Maria: brother, Jeff Winters; sister, Marsha Hurley; and one half-brother, José A. “Joe” Gorgita, Sr.

He is survived by four daughters, Deanna Owsley of Chilhowee, Amy (and Troy) Prewitt of Pleasant Hill, Natalie (and Travis) Dye of Kansas City, and Tyler Winters of Eudora, Kansas; seven grandchildren, Abby Butler, Maddy Owsley, Laney Owsley, Austen Prewitt, Konnor Prewitt, Harley Prewitt, and Aubreigh Dye; three great grandchildren, Avery, Micah, and Keegan; one brother, William “Bill” (and Denise) Winters of Paola; brother-in-law, Randy Hurley of Texas; several nieces and nephews, Jessica Meade, Candy Pitman, Brandy Willis, Lindsey Mravunac, Eric Penyock, Andrea Winters, Lusina Kavan, Mia Winters, Nini Winters, Eddie Rockley, Lisa Kirk, and José A. “Joe” Gorgita, Jr.; other relatives and a host of many friends.

A celebration of Dee’s life will be held 1:00 p.m. Sunday, March 30, 2025, at his home, 4805 Martha Truman Rd., Grandview, Missouri 64030.
